The alert

The Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) has declared an alert for a La Niña like weather pattern forming across Australia and the Pacific Ocean.

When criteria is met for an alert to be announced, there is an approximate 70% chance of the full La Niña weather event occurring.

What does this mean?

For the coming Spring and Summer months in Northern and Eastern Australia, we’re likely to see higher than average rainfall and warmer than average temperatures.

This means for anyone with a water tank, expect a consistent amount of rainfall to fill your tank/s.

And furthermore, if you’re considering installing a water tank, now is an excellent time to get ready to take advantage of the increased rainfall.

Your gardens and water bill will thank you for it.

Why does this weather pattern occur?

One of the key indicators for this event being called is the cooling surface temperature of the Pacific Ocean
